Red Fort
The Red Fort is also known as Lal Quila which had been the erstwhile residence of the Mughal Rulers. It situated in the heart of Delhi, Chandani Chowk. The fort was built by Shah Jahan when the capital was shifted from Agra to Delhi. Several buildings are housed within, Diwan-i-Aam, Moti Masjid, Nahr-i-Bashi, and Diwan-i-Khaas. The architecture is built with the combination of three styles- Persian, Indian and Timurid. The Red Fort is closed on Mondays.
Jama Masjid
Jama Masjid of Delhi is one of the largest mosques in India. The masjid was built in Islamic style in the 16th century by Shah Jahan, the Mughal emperor, who also built the Taj Mahal in Agra. Up to twenty-five thousand people can gather in its courtyard at the same time. The structure was built by three types of stones- Red Sandstone, Marble and Sand Stone.
Raj Ghat
Rajghat is a memorial of Mahatma Gandhi and here many people visit this place barefoot to pay homage to the father of nation, Mahatma Gandhi. Within the complex, a museum lies, which depicts the whole life of Mahatma Gandhi. There are some other memorials dedicated to Rajiv Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Chandra Shekhar Azad, I K Gujral etc.

Qutub Minar
The Qutub Minar is the UNESCO World Heritage Site which is 73 meters tall. This tower of victory is a five-story building and its construction was initiated by Qutab-ud-din in 1193 and later completed by his successor, Itutmish. Click the pictures of the tower from the different angles. Within the Qutub Minar complex, several structures lies- Ala’I Minar, Ala’i-Darwaza, 7 meters tall which is the tallest building in India.
Humayun’s Tomb
Humayun’s Tomb is another UNESCO World Heritage Site in Delhi. This tomb was built by Hamida Banu Begum, also known as Haji Begum, in the memory of his husband, Humayun; after fourteen years of his death. The architecture was built with the combination of Persian and Mughal style. Some graves of Mughal rulers are also housed within the tomb.
Lotus Temple
The Lotus Temple is in the form of a white lotus petal and dedicated to the Baha’I Faith but it is open for everyone irrespective of religion or gender. This edifice is the best place to meditate as you get the peaceful atmosphere inside the temple. The temple is dotted with beautiful garden and pools. The white marbled structure is composed of 27 lotus petals and 9 doors which leads to natural lighting inside the prayer hall where 2500 people can sit together.
The India Gate
This is memorial built in the memory of Indian Army Soldiers who died during World War I. Visitors arrive here to pay tribute to those martyrs. The edifice looks beautiful in the night due to its lighting effects. The Amar Jawan Jyoti had been installed later in the memory of the soldiers who died during Indo-Pak War. A flame is burnt out every time to remember the sacrifices of the Martyrs. Near by the India Gate, drive past the Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhawan (or President’s House) and Secretariat Buildings.
